Clarissa Kessler, who was born in Dornach within sight of the Goetheanum, attended the wood carving school in Brienz after the preliminary design course in Lucerne. She then completed her training as a qualified industrial designer and developed various products. One of her most famous sculptural works is on Casinoplatz Meiringen: the roped party of what is probably the world’s first mountain guide Melchior Anderegg, known as the "King of Guides", with the well-known English historian, writer and mountaineer Leslie Stephen are enthroned in bronze on the stone.
