« The day I saw a jeweler at work in his shop, it was a real revelation. I immediately knew that I wanted to work with the material. »

About

Granddaughter of a sculptor and niece of painters, Catherine Schmeer grew up in a family of artists who passed on to her a taste for volumes and colors. After studying art history, she trained in jewelry design in Geneva and Rome. Back in Switzerland, she worked for various jewelers before opening her studio in 1986. She took part in numerous exhibitions.

« The jewel is a small sculpture and the stones that encase it are part of a color palette. This composition will be enhanced by the person who wears it. »

In Catherine Schmeer’s workshop, the rolling mill rubs shoulders with pliers, rivets, bocfils and other torches. Using these tools, she shapes, files or welds the metal before adorning it with precious stones, pearls, coral or fossils. She makes personal creations as well as orders. She is committed to using ethical raw materials.
