Paul Devins
Wind musical instrument repairer
Lausanne

« It was the love of music that made me choose this profession. I couldn’t have been a full time musician, I needed something more manual. »

About

A music lover since childhood, Paul Devins trained in classical music and then in jazz before following an apprenticeship in instrument making. Shortly after, in 1995, he opened his workshop and repaired wind musical instruments for musicians of all levels and ages. He is also a member of various musical formations and trains apprentices.

« Nothing is ever learned, we rack our brains to figure out how to repair an instrument. It’s always changing and that’s what I love. »

In his workshop, Paul Devins overhauls the more or less damaged wood and brass: he checks the buffers, the corks, the felts, the mechanics but also the pistons, the dent removal and the welds. Each repair being unique, he likes to rack his brains to find appropriate solutions to each problem and satisfy the needs of his customers. He also rents and sells instruments.
