Wiebke Meurer
Designer designer of jewelry and objects
Nyon

« My precious, often pseudo-functional objects make me reflect on their traditional use associated with a chapter of our cultural history. »

About

Wiebke Meurer studied jewelery and object design at the Berufskolleg in Pforzheim, the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam and the studio of Simone ten Hompel in London. In 2002, she obtained her master’s degree in fine arts at the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam. She has lived and worked in Switzerland since 2001. Her silver creations have been exhibited in contemporary art galleries for over 20 years.

« I transform everyday objects by deforming them, changing their scale or using other materials to create these fragile works that we hardly dare to touch. »

Inspired by the history of tableware in Europe, Wiebke Meurer specializes in porcelain and silver tableware. His work is exhibited in art galleries and museums such as the Stedelijk Museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Saatchi Gallery in London, the Gustavsberg Konsthall in Sweden and Art Geneva.
