Nicolas Regamey
Typographer
Lausanne

« Sometimes contrary to the evolution of technologies, I have a taste for certain bygone eras. I worship the beautiful things of the past, especially ancient techniques. »

About

Once his training as a multimedia operator and graphic designer was completed, the passion for old-fashioned typography – with lead type – led Nicolas Regamey to learn, in particular, from Jean-Renaud Dagon in Vevey. An ardent defender of his profession, he is vice-president of the Cardboard Ticket Association, a member of the Association of Real Friends of Cadratin and Espace Gutenberg in Yvonand.

« For the love of old trains, I print, on specific machines, the good old cardboard tickets. »

Opened in 2005 at the foot of Lausanne Cathedral, Nicolas Regamey’s workshop is a place inhabited by machines dating from the past century, in particular a Monotype font typewriter, one of the last in operation in French-speaking Switzerland. Nicolas Regamey likes to talk about his job while honoring his orders for business cards, stationery, announcements or posters.
