Twelve craftsmen occupy the space of the telegraphs in the Quartier du Flon. You will be welcomed by trades as diverse as mosaicist, gilder, binder, cabinetmaker, jeweller, carpet restorer, decorator upholsterer, restorer of paintings, creator of lighting, all members of the Association Vaudoise des Métiers d’Art. Project yourself into their world, enjoy their demonstrations!

Olivier Boehm, cabinetmaker

In 1997, Olivier Boehm began his apprenticeship with Maurice Jaques, cabinetmaker and dean of the pre-apprenticeship section of the Vevey Vocational Education Center. Together, they create period furniture and work on prestigious restoration sites such as that of the La Suisse boat belonging to the Compagnie Générale de Navigation.

Caroline Catti, jeweler

Since a very young age, Caroline Catti, likes to draw, cut, paste, create. She has the opportunity to do all this by becoming a jeweler. At the end of a four-year apprenticeship, she obtained her CFC. She practices her profession in several workshops, then in 2015, she opens her workshop-boutique in the town of Lutry.

Adriana Cavallaro, mosaic artist

Adriana Cavallaro was born in Catania. She grew up in Ravenna, the cradle of Byzantine mosaics. She studied this traditional art for more than 11 years, first at the Institute of Applied Arts in Ravenna and then at the Geneva University of Art and Design. In 2004, she did an exchange semester and decided to settle in Switzerland.

Silke Droessaert, gilder restorer

Silke Droessaert found her way by chance when she joined a master gilder-framer in Lausanne. Three years later, she obtained her CFC after having learned, among other things, to recognize acanthus leaves, rosettes and stripes of hearts. Subsequently, her passion for old engravings led her to train in the conservation and restoration of graphic documents at the Ecole du Vésinet in Paris.

Line Duboux, carpet restorer

After a carpet repair course, Line Duboux began her apprenticeship as an artistic stopper at König Tapis in 1981 and obtained her CFC in 1984. Over time, she had the opportunity to restore carpets and weavings of all ages and to all origins, thus acquiring experience. In 2017, she took over the destiny of the workshop on her own.

Thérèse Dupont, art restorer

Thérèse Dupont began studying art restoration in Florence. His job will be his passion, it allows him to rub shoulders with a rich palette of works, traveling from the Middle Ages to the contemporary era, between pocket-sized paintings and imposing church building sites. From 1989 to 2001 she was involved in a studio in Fribourg, then she opened her studio and radiated throughout French-speaking Switzerland.

Marc Froger, cabinetmaker

Born in 1959, Marc Froger trained in cabinetmaking in France before working in several prestigious workshops in Paris. His specialty is the restoration of 18th century inlaid furniture. In 1982, he participated in the development of the first patent filed in the field of furniture restoration. He has been independent since 1990.

Christian Gilliéron, upholsterer-decorator

After a four-year apprenticeship with René Périllard, decorator, Christian Gilliéron worked for five years in a renowned workshop specializing in upholstery and furniture coverings. In 1987, he set up on his own. Anxious to perpetuate this profession which he finds magnificent, he trains apprentices and transmits to them his passion for his work.

Anthony Guyot, gilder framer

After having interrupted an apprenticeship in carpentry in 1978, Anthony Guyot realizes that it was important to make something of your life that you really love. Browsing through a list of trades, he is drawn to the word “gilder-dresser”. Three years later, he obtained his CFC. He perfected his training for four years with Rudolf Berger, a renowned gilding teacher from Bern.

Laurent Jaquet, bookbinder

Laurent Jaquet chose the profession of bookbinder for the variety of tasks, the diversity of materials and of course the book, the very object of the trade. Apprenticed in the Boulenaz workshop in Vevey, he finished his training in 1986 and completed it at the Centro Del Bel Libro art bookbinding school in Ascona in Ticino. He perfected his art in Geneva by taking an interest in the restoration of old books.

Fabien Robert, interior upholsterer

Originally from Valais, Fabien Robert completed his apprenticeship as an upholsterer in Friborg and obtained his CFC in 1982. Then he developed his know-how through a form of companionship with various master upholsterers, notably with a Meilleur Ouvrier de France and René Steiner. , antique dealer in Bussigny. He opened his own workshop in Prilly in 2010.

Laurence Zähner, lampshade and lighting manufacturer

For sixteen years, Laurence Zähner has been working as a lampshade designer and light manufacturer. After studying law in Paris and Lausanne, this Parisian discovered her vocation and turned towards the world of artistic craftsmanship. After training as a lampshade designer in Paris, she founded VdeV CREATION in 2004. Since then, she has worked tirelessly to perfect her technical skills.
