The API (Association pour le Patrimoine Industriel) is printing a composition specially for the JEMA, based on linocuts and wooden typographic letters on sheets of paper which will be used to make a TYPOGRAPHER'S HAT.
Indeed, in the 19th century, printing workers wore a paper cap to protect themselves from ink and oil splashes. We were introduced to this folding by Mr. John Cornelisse and we will reveal it to the visitors of the JEMA. Because paper remains the heart of the book.
Small workshops will be offered to you at the Sicli Pavilion, covering origami, typographic printing and engraving. Other mini workshops will allow you to have a sensory relationship with paper. Thus, everyone will be able to leave with their paper hat. No registration necessary, subject to availability.
During the JEMA, the API workshops will be present at the Sicli Pavilion free of charge and freely according to the following times:
- Friday March 28 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Saturday March 29 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
