Dry stone, lime, shingles and split wooden tav(a)illons have been used in the Jura massif for millennia. They contributed to the unity and originality of the Jura landscapes. Today, the search for better energy efficiency in buildings, combined with aspirations for a healthy habitat, encourages us to revisit this know-how. The book presents the different techniques from a historical perspective, comparing the practices in use on both sides of the Franco-Swiss border. The return of dry stone in the development of public spaces, the revival of lime plasters to guarantee the breathing of insulated walls, or the very favorable carbon footprint of protective coverings in tav(a)illons are all demonstrations of the modernity of these traditional materials, illustrated by about fifteen achievements spread over the whole of the Jura massif.
