Emaux peints de Limoges XVe-XVIIIe siècles. La collection du musée des arts décoratifs

The crafts of watchmaking and jewelery

Appearing in Limoges around the middle of the 15th century, enamel painting reached its peak in the following century and met with great success with European courts. These precious and refined objects, colored or in grisaille, representing religious or profane subjects, seduced collectors and antique dealers in the 19th century. This book invites you to rediscover the collection of the Museum of Decorative Arts through the study of fifty-eight enamels ranging from the end of the 15th to the 18th century, from Pseudo-Monvaerni to Baptiste Nouailher, including the Master of the Orleans triptych and Pierre Reymond, and even pastiches and falsifications of the 19th century. It is aimed at specialists but also at amateurs who will find something to delight their eyes among this remarkable collection.
