The perfect locksmith is the work of a 19th century artist who sought to improve and make known the techniques of his trade: locksmithing. His passion for a job well done led him to move from the status of locksmith to that of engraver and student of the School of Fine Arts in Dijon as he claims on the cover of his book. A great classic of its time, it was constantly reprinted from 1828 to 1868.
