Schmuckkurs: Grundlagen, Techniken und Projekte in 34 Lektionen

Jeweler

In 34 lessons, the jewelry artist and lecturer Jinks McGrath introduces the design and creation of jewelry. The first part of the book covers the basics: where to find inspiration, how to turn it into jewelry, how to calculate and order the amount of metal, set up the workspace, take safety precautions, test different techniques and much more. There are also introductions to precious and base metals and gemology. More than 20 lessons are entirely dedicated to the different techniques of jewelry design. Soldering, hammering and filing, connection techniques and fittings, working with wire and surface design options are explained in a clearly structured manner and with many illustrations. Each technique includes hints on how to use the right tools, inspirational models showing what can be accomplished with that technique, and references to similar techniques and the hands-on exercises in the third part of the book: Six projects have been specifically designed this way that all the skills learned can be practiced step by step while at the same time creating attractive pieces of jewellery.
