Textildesign Sticken: Inspirationen aus der Natur

Textile crafts

"Textile Design Embroidering" is a voyage of discovery to the design principles of embroidery. The author is concerned with the connection of motif, color, material, structure and technology to the overall composition of the surface. Whether haute couture, interiors or ready-to-wear fashion - embroidered textiles with pearls and sequins, feathers, shells or plastic flocking revive an old craft. Photographs taken from nature serve as examples and inspiration in this book. Hand or machine-made embroideries implement these images and deal with numerous well-known and lesser-known techniques. The instructions are simple and illustrated step by step in many places. The first part includes a technical outline: industrial, craft, traditional and modern techniques are covered, including a chapter on haberdashery and an explanation of the most common embroidery stitches. The second part explains and illustrates in twelve chapters the various design principles used in embroidery today, for example scattered patterns, checkered and checked patterns, all-over patterns or borders.
