Textile Druck- und Färbetechniken

Textile crafts

Patterns are back in fashion, and if you want to give your clothes, upholstery or serviettes a personal touch, it is best to dye or print these textiles yourself. After an introduction to the history of textile printing, the authors present the most important fibres, the most common fabrics and the ones required materials and tools. The techniques model printing, screen printing, etching and bleaching as well as the reserve techniques batik and gutta painting are described in a practice-oriented manner and illustrated with many illustrations. Particular attention is paid to the creative possibilities and individual variations offered by the individual processes. Six projects are then presented step by step – including a child’s dress, a lampshade and a curtain – in which the different printing and dyeing techniques are tried out.
