About
Born into a family of artisans, Jérôme Blanc grew up in his father’s workshop. After his training, he traveled, notably to Australia where he discovered woodturning. Back in Switzerland, he opened his business while continuing to train with master turners. He is regularly invited to present his practice and participates in numerous exhibitions around the world.
To create his pieces, Jérôme Blanc uses only green wood from local species and draws inspiration from the history of the tree he reads in his tree rings. Chip by chip, he hollows out the raw pieces and works them until the wood is as thick as a sheet. He ends up sculpting lines and geometric shapes on his creations in order to give life to delicate plays of light. He created the trophies that we give to the winners of the Swiss Crafts awards.
