Peter Fink
Ceramist
Ependes

« It fascinates me to work with fire and earth and to perpetuate a tradition of several centuries. I like to transform a raw material made available by nature. »

About

Originally from Zurich, Peter Fink studied at the School of Applied Arts in Vevey. During an internship, it clicked and he never left ceramics. Between the courses he gives in professional schools and his collaborations with many European artists, he does not forget to create his own collections. He is the winner of the Métiers d’art et design 2018 prize.

« To get out of it, you have to find a balance between creation, technique, expectations and market requirements. A craft only lasts if it adapts to the times. »

Since 1985, Peter Fink has taken over the former Ependes dairy. He has been transforming there for almost ten tons of soil per year. Stamping, casting, hydraulic pressing, modeling: from all these stages are born both pieces for daily use and creations for renowned designers. Anxious to pass on his know-how, he also trains apprentices. In 2012, he co-founded the association Keramikpanorama Murten and is its president.
