Michel Gillabert
Stone sculptor
Veyrier

« I wanted to work with my hands, outside. First as a stonemason, I completed my training with a CFC in sculpting. »

About

Working the stone, challenging its characteristics to make it appear in a light and unsuspected form or, on the contrary, exploiting its hardness and inertia in order to intimately link the material to the subject, stone sculpture, because it gives form to minerals with varied characteristics whose different types – marble, granite, sandstone – evoke at first glance a style, a tradition, concentrates in its ancestral practice a fragment of human history.

« The know-how of the stone sculptor is inseparable from heritage, which is why this profession must continue. »

Driven by their respective goals and enriched by their personal training, Vincent Du Bois, Michel Gillabert and Philippe Cartan, all three members of the Association of Independent Sculptors of Geneva (ASPIG) are constantly reinventing this artistic profession, between restoration and creation, between tradition and modernity.
