Daniel Harriet
Ornamental sculptor
Etoy

« To engrave stone is to engrave time. All the great moments in human history are written in stone. »

About

Of Basque origin, Daniel Harriet discovered by chance the working of stone in a sandstone quarry and immediately fell in love with engraving and ornamentation. He trained at the Hirigoyenberry marble works in France. Arrived in Switzerland, he perfected his know-how by taking courses in academic sculpture with the painter and sculptor Andrea Dobay. He is now independent.

« The first time I saw an engraver, I was dazzled. A form of thunderbolt. I knew that was what I wanted to do. »

After having worked on funerary or historical monuments for companies in Switzerland and abroad, Daniel Harriet set up on his own. For more than 10 years now, he has specialized in lapidary engraving and calligraphy on stone. He teaches sculpture and regularly presents exhibitions of his works carved on stone, slate or around wood.
