From 1981 to 1986, Margret Schwab attended the preliminary design course and the ceramics course at the Bern School of Design. Immediately after, she devoted herself to everyday ceramics. During her ceramic work in Bülach, she was able to develop her own style and was employed part-time for ceramic painting and decorative designs.

She has been working as a freelance ceramist since 1993. In her workshop in Breitenrain, she creates everyday porcelain objects, all turned by hand on a lathe. Margret Schwab's specialty is colored slip painting with a brush and paint horn, and to this day it's the finest thing for her when her works become beloved daily companions.
