His scientific training led him to a doctorate in cellular and molecular biology. After several years in research, Damien Ythier realizes that it is not for him and decides to leave his position as a researcher to live from his passion: woodworking. In 2015, he opened his cabinetmaking workshop in Pomy: La Fiber Du Bois.

Damien Ythier creates or custom-makes high-end furniture with clean lines and a combination of materials. He favors the indigenous wood that he finds preserved for decades in the barns of the peasants. He sometimes incorporates composite materials or even glass, stone and metal.
