Emmanuelle Zem Rohner
painter, decorator and heritage decor
Genève

« My first encounter with this profession was on the stairs of a large hotel: a young woman was painting there, before my amazed eyes, a fake marble. I was immediately won over. »

About

Emmanuelle Zem Rohner’s trompe-l’oeil decorations allow her to deploy all her creativity. Expert in reconstructing sets, she works, among other things, with friezes, grisailles, faux marbles, faux wood, faux moldings. Independent, she has been practicing her profession since 1993 on construction sites in the Geneva region and elsewhere.

« Fake marble, real decor. »

The process of a scenery reconstruction begins with a search for photographic documents. Then, if the decor has been covered with one or more layers of paint, it will be necessary to carry out, using a scalpel, on-site surveys in a few strategic places. Once the decor has been proven, it will be necessary to reconstitute its shapes and colors as close as possible to reality.
