Basel - Corsets, elegant models from the Belle Époque to the present day

The corset is surrounded by many myths. For nearly four centuries, the corset was the symbol of the staging of feminine beauty and seduction. It was the first garment that aroused desires and fantasies and inspired many artists. The exhibition presents more than 60 corsets from the period from 1775 to 1925, unique creations, in silk or cotton satin, in bright colors, adorned with splendid embroidery. These corsets, from the Nuits de Satin de Paris collection, are new for the most part and have never been worn. They give a realistic glimpse of the splendor and luxury of these rooms.
