Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix, November 9, 2018
The jury particularly appreciated the leather mosaic work carried out in Bienne.
Mosaic. The word evokes art and light, the meticulous assembly of multicolored fragments whose combination forms an artistic motif. In a 41 mm-diameter Arceau watch, 2,200 tiny juxtaposed squares of leather form the profile of a horse taken from the “Robe du Soir” square designed by Florence Manlik in 2018. Against an electric blue background and matching strap, the tesserae variegated colors light up in the rose gold of the round case with asymmetrical lugs and fine leaf-shaped hands. Twelve numbered pieces mark this watchmaking creation imbued with the saddler and leather goods heritage of Hermès. http://www.gphg.org/horlogerie/fr/gphg-2018-prizes/prix-de-la-montre-metiers-dart-2018-hermes-arceau-robe-du-soir09 November 2018
