Lausanne : Aldo Bakker au Mudac

Exhibition at the mudac, from February 8 to April 30, 2017

Since the late 1980s, industrial designer Aldo Bakker (Netherlands, 1971) has developed an impressive body of work. The Aldo Bakker exhibition. Pause presents for the first time a retrospective of his work. Conceived by the designer himself, it allows the public to discover the surprising results of a laborious and unique work process. Although Aldo Bakker produced a wide range of objects – unique pieces and limited editions, but also creations for renowned companies such as Karakter and Georg Jensen (DN), Puiforcat and Sèvres (FR) – the impact of his work is not linked to the quantities produced. The quality of the works he has drawn and shaped, re-drawn and re-shaped again and again, lies above all in the way they change our perception of the ordinary. The exhibition illustrates his subtle mastery of the extraordinary. Not through extravagance, but through finesse and absolute precision of execution.
