Le Chenit - A prestigious mission for the Technical School

Joux Valley opinion sheet, Joël Reymond, June 27, 2019

The information is now official: the Technical School of the Vallée de Joux (ETVJ) has been commissioned to equip the new room of the Vaudois Grand Council with a wall clock. This unique piece, already designed, should be affixed and inaugurated in two and a half years. With the appearance of a precision regulator from the beginning of the 20th century, the future clock of the Grand Council is a great challenge for the technical school of the Valley (ETVJ). On the first drawings, she appears elegant in her transparent cabinet; its exterior part has been redesigned to match the architectural style of the Vaud Parliament. It will function like its venerable ancestors from the 1930s-50s with a mechanical movement powered by a twelve-kilo weight and a thirty-day power reserve. In principle, it will be up to the intendant of the Parliament, Thierry Bron, to wind it regularly by hand.
