Rolle - The most successful sailboat in Lake Geneva is back on its canvas deck

24 hours, Madeleine Schürch, March 8, 2019

Entirely renovated, this jewel of lakeside heritage will one day be exhibited at the Léman Museum in Nyon.

The paint is still fresh. In recent days, the Fleur Bleue, the most successful sailboat on Lake Geneva, has regained its original color. Admirably restored by Philippe Durr’s shipyard in Versoix, this jewel of lakeside heritage has returned to Rolle, the city where it was built in 1939 by Jean Oester. He will receive his final dressing there. Because it took the expert hands of Jean-Philippe Mayerat, alias “Mayu”, to restore the proud courier to its original cover. The shipbuilder is one of the last to master the manufacture of a canvas deck, a technique that disappeared with the advent of plywood.
