La Forge de Ropraz, located at the entrance to the village, has existed for several decades. In its walls there emanates an atmosphere of another time: a fire crackling in the hearth, walls weathered by smoke; suspended as in the past, tools and accessories from the beginning of the 20th century, a wall telephone… It was alongside his father, a farmer in Carrouge, that Vincent Desmeules got to know this forge. Both of them, in tractors, came there to have the farm tools repaired. At that time, the Forge de Ropraz was in the hands of the late Camille Porchet. After an apprenticeship as a locksmith/builder in Moudon, then ironwork in Friborg and training as a metal builder, he set up his workshop in Renens. In 1997, Vincent Desmeules started his own business. In 2004, he took over the rental of the forge from the late Mr. Brossi.
