Switzerland and France - Joint application to include watchmaking mechanics and art mechanics as UNESCO World Heritage Sites

Switzerland and France have jointly submitted a candidacy in watchmaking mechanics and artistic mechanics to Unesco. The organization will have to decide on this inclusion in the intangible cultural heritage in November 2020. The know-how in watchmaking mechanics and mechanical art brings together the watchmaking craftsmanship of the Jura Arc, from Geneva to Schaffhausen. The manufacture of automata and music boxes in the Sainte-Croix region are also part of the lot, the Federal Office of Culture said on Monday.
