The Dresden Damascus room shines in new splendor

Arte, October 17, 2017

The Damascus Room in Dresden is a unique example of Islamic arts and crafts from the early 19th century. Via the Orientalia collector Karl Ernst Osthaus, it went to the Museum of Ethnology. But until it was rediscovered, it lay dormant for 100 years as a pile of boards in the depot. Now the restoration is nearing completion. Olivera Tornau met the restoration team.
