The Geneva State Councilor Pierre Maudet and the mayor of the city of Calvin spoke on Sunday evening on the occasion of the opening night of the show.

8,800 jobs depend directly on the brands present at the show. Main organizer of the SIHH, the Geneva group Richemont has more than 7,000 jobs in Switzerland. It is the second watchmaking group after Swatch Group and the fifth largest private employer in French-speaking Switzerland.
