Le luthier qui aimait la terre

The artistic professions of instrument making

A man leads his horses at full gallop in the snow of the Jura, he crosses the seasons, sows and harvests, makes hay, cuts the big trees, we say to ourselves that this man must be happy, working calmly and constancy in this beautiful landscape, then we see him in his studio, he sculpts the volute of a violin or a cello, surrounded by marvelous shapes, shavings, tools with patinated handles, and we are amazed, we find it hard to believe that the same man could, every day of his life, perfectly accomplish all the work in the fields and in the woods, and make concert instruments, sought after by professional musicians. He is the luthier who loved the earth, Hans-Martin Bader. From the tree to the violin, nature passes through his gaze and is transformed between his hands.
