Smoke firing is an ancient method of firing raw clay into hard, durable pottery. At the same time, smoke firing is excellent for decorative effects. The sometimes unpredictable processes during firing allow countless variations, they encourage improvisation and experimentation and thus artistic creativity. "Rauchbrand" offers a comprehensive overview of the different interpretations and approaches of important contemporary ceramic artists.
