His first violin, Esther Bornand held it in his hands at the age of seven. She obtained her CFC as a luthier in 1997, then her master’s degree in 2002. She also wrote the biography of luthier François-Marie Pupunat (1802-1868). Very committed to her profession, she is a member of the Swiss Association of Violin Makers and Bow Makers and chief expert for the exams of the School of Violin Making in Brienz.

Esther Bornand opened her workshop in Lausanne in 2008. In her premises in Lausanne, she builds, adjusts, repairs and restores violins, violas and cellos. In a room with large windows, she gives or returns the sound and soul to these pieces of wood so that they can resonate for decades to come in the hands of musicians.
