About
Originally from a shepherd background in the Cévennes in France, Thierry Carbonell has specialized for 37 years in the construction and restoration of dry stone walls.
Its approach combines tradition, ecology, responsible citizenship and social partnership. Combining this ancestral art with a socio-cultural and therapeutic approach, Thierry Carbonell leads the "Dry stone companions". Under his leadership, as part of the Saint George Foundation in Yverdon-les-Bains, these people with mental disabilities restore all types of dry stone construction in French-speaking Switzerland.
Thierry Carbonell is preparing two books on Free Art, an unprecedented branch of Land Art that he is developing in French-speaking Switzerland through the creation of contemporary dry stone constructions. He regularly gives lessons in the Lavaux, in the Chasseral regional park and occasionally at the Marcelin School of Agriculture.
