Adriana Cavallaro was born in Catania. She grew up in Ravenna, the cradle of Byzantine mosaics. She studied this traditional art for more than 11 years, first at the Institute of Applied Arts in Ravenna and then at the Geneva University of Art and Design. In 2004, she did an exchange semester and decided to settle in Switzerland.

In her studio in Lausanne, she perpetuates this tradition by creating and reproducing works from Antiquity but also by promoting it: she regularly gives lessons there as well as in socio-cultural centres, schools and museums. Adriana Cavallaro works with stone, marble, ceramics, glass paste as well as with recycled objects.
