For Vincent Du Bois, stone sculpture is a family affair: three generations of artisans in Italy and as many in Switzerland preceded the creation of Atelier CAL'AS. After studying art in the United States, he chose in 1993 to perpetuate the legacy of his grandfather Cassani. Trained in the family workshops and in Carrara, Italy, he founded CAL'AS to connect art, craftsmanship, tradition, and contemporary creation.
Director of Atelier CAL'AS, Vincent Du Bois combines ancient techniques with technical innovations. His workshop, a place of both production and experimentation, shapes stone for heritage restoration, construction, and contemporary works of art. The work combines hand tools, cutting-edge technology, and an eye for detail to give the material lasting and expressive power.
