Lionel Fernandes
Ornamental sculptor, cabinetmaker and restorer
Renens

« I am fortunate to benefit from a long family heritage of woodworking by being part of the sixth generation of cabinetmakers and the second generation of carvers. »

About

Lionel Fernandes developed his interest in woodworking from an early age in his father’s workshop in northern France. After obtaining his diplomas in cabinetmaking and ornamental sculpture, he completed an internship in Greece in order to perfect his knowledge and continue his training with a stone and metal sculptor. He moved to French-speaking Switzerland in 2020, after having worked for several years in the United States.

« Teaching has been very enriching and allowed me to share my passion, while transmitting an increasingly rare know-how. »

Lionel Fernandes’ workshop specializes in ornamental sculpture, cabinetmaking, as well as in the conservation of furniture and works of art, which has led him to restore both piano furniture and masterpieces of African primitive art. Aware of the ecological impact that his company can have, he preferably works with local suppliers and uses PEFC and FSC certified wood.
