Hans-Peter Kneuss
Glass-blower
Meyrin

« The glass does not lack breath. »

About

A glassblower for more than 50 years, Hans-Peter Kneuss creates artistic pieces in his workshop with high-quality materials or pieces for the scientific field (test tubes, beakers, carfaes, etc.).

In 2014, he was still in the category of scientific glassblower. This profession, which is necessary for companies like Givaudan or Firmenich or even universities, is having difficulty finding a replacement in the canton of Geneva. Passionate about his profession, he trained several apprentices with whom he has, for some, remained in contact.

« With a lot of creativity and passion, during all this time I was able to create numerous pieces, each one crazier than the last. »

Working with glass in an artistic way is what she likes the most, but creating articles for private individuals or artists is also part of her work. Creating old-fashioned light bulbs was one of the creative challenges he faced in his work.

These creations are made from glass tubes or rods using a blowtorch or in the oven at 1260°C, then stabilized by a second firing in the oven at 550°C.
