« Through medieval illumination, crossing my passions for drawing, painting and the Middle Ages, I found my way of light. »

About
Passionate about the Middle Ages since her adolescence, Carolina Mangiavacchi has always loved drawing and painting. After a master’s degree in English and Spanish letters and art history, she obtained a diploma in pedagogy at the HEP. It was in 2013, during an intensive course in medieval history, that calligraphy and illumination were a revelation for her! After numerous internships and an assiduous practice of golden illustrations of medieval manuscripts, this luminous artist opened her own studio in 2016.

« Nature is the source of inspiration for my creations. »

Carolina Mangiavacchi uses traditional techniques and materials for the careful and delicate sanding preparation of the parchment. She then deposits natural color pigments and gold leaf on it, allowing her unique original creations or her copies of medieval manuscripts to shine in all their brilliance.
