After working as a surveyor for 27 years, Hervé Schopfer turned to shingle making. He learned the trade from Colin Karlen, president of the Romande Association of Tavillonneurs, before founding Tavillons Bois in 2010, a company specializing in the manufacture and installation of shingles. Since then, he has been traveling the Pays d'Enhaut and all of Switzerland to keep this ancestral know-how alive.
Committed to preserving built heritage, Hervé Schopfer combines traditional techniques and ecological awareness in his work by using only wood from sustainably managed forests. All the shingles, which will adorn the roofs and facades of the Alpine chalets, are hand-cut.
