« In a traditional cut, the graphic characteristics are important: the geometry, the distribution of black and white areas determine the visual expressiveness. »

About

In his free time, Marc Schweizer indulges in his passion: paper cutting. At the age of 8, he learned this traditional craft. Since then, he has been cutting out designs inspired by both his surroundings and traditional papercutting. In February 2019, he received the third prize for the Relève métiers d'art prize.

« It's a balance for me. When I'm working on a cut, I completely disconnect, I'm in another world. »

In his chalet in the mountains, Marc Schweizer draws his silhouettes, playing with geometric shapes, symmetry, and the balance between black and white surfaces. A cutout can take several months when detailing the leaves of a tree or the feathers of a bird. In 2016, Marc Schweizer joined the association "Scherenschnitt Schweiz" and organized his first exhibition.
