Discover weaving, one of the oldest crafts, through the eyes of a hand weaver. Immerse yourself in the world of manual textile production, observe the patient knotting of fabrics and learn more about the production of hand-woven fabrics. Barbara Turtschi has devoted herself with dedication to hand weaving.

In her Bernese workshop, Barbara Turtschi designs and manufactures "double placemats". For these, two kilometres of thread are woven, one weft for the upper fabric and one for the lower fabric, more than two thousand times in both directions. Customers have the option of personalising both sides of the placemats in different colours, in order to achieve harmony with their living room, dining table or tableware. The feel and fabric of the organic cotton placemats are very durable. This type of quality can now be described as sustainable.
