Manufacture de Sèvres, from October 3, 2019 to August 31, 2020

The new season of Sèvres - National Manufacture and Museum is held from October 2019 to August 2020. Its theme is the beauty of gesture. The entire program echoes this, with the opening of the École de Sèvres and a gallery of know-how in the museum space, exhibitions revealing the talents of the artists in residence and craftsmen from Sèvres and off-the-wall projects.

The national ceramics museum opens the gallery of know-how in October 2019. In this space for exhibition, experimentation and encounter, the program sheds light on the links between the manufacture and the museum. The Gallery lifts the veil on the creative process and the manufacturing secrets of the Sèvres porcelain masterpieces of yesterday and today, kept in the museum. The exhibition showcases the exceptional crafts of the craftsmen of the factory in relation to the works.

From October 3, 2019 to March 9, 2020, the first part covers: cooking techniques and the magic of fire, the unique palette of 1000 colors, porcelain biscuit sculpture, plates in the service of power and audacity and technical challenges necessary for the realization of large vases.

From March 26 to August 31, 2020, the second part focuses on: drawing and design, the singularity of painting on porcelain, gold, an identity color, furniture and the extravagant forms of Sèvres. One Sunday a month, in the gallery space, visitors are invited to create a collective work. They participate in passionate discussions between artists invited to the Manufacture and craftsmen. Curators share their knowledge with them. Throughout the season, cultural activities close to the trades and heritage of Sèvres are offered to the public, behind-the-scenes tours of the factory, masterpieces in the museum.
