Geneva - Tribute to jeweler Gilbert Albert at the Museum of Art and History

RFJ, July 9, 2020

The Geneva Museum of Art and History pays tribute to the jeweler Gilbert Albert. It dedicates an exhibition to the work of the Geneva designer. Nearly one hundred jewels inspired by nature are on view until November 15. Born in Geneva in 1930, Gilbert Albert studied jewelery there. He first worked at Patek Philippe before turning to jewelry and opening his own workshop in 1962. In 1973, he set up his gallery and workshops in the city center, at Corraterie and, ten years later , a store at the prestigious Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich, then in Moscow and Dubai. Gilbert Albert has exhibited his works all over the world. He was the first living jeweler since 1917, after Fabergé, to be invited to present his creations at the Kremlin in Moscow. In addition to jewelry, he created the mace of the Sautier de la République in 1999 and the Cross of Pentecost for the 450th anniversary of the Reformation in Geneva.
