Homo Faber - The Young Ambassadors program brings together some of the most talented and driven students in applied arts and design at Homo Faber.

Venice, from September 14 to 30, 2018

A unique educational initiative of the Fondazione Giorgio Cini and the Michelangelo Foundation, the Young Ambassador program brings together some of the most talented and motivated applied arts and design students at Homo Faber. Over 100 students have been carefully selected from 26 leading European educational institutions, which are part of the network of like-minded organizations as the Michelangelo Foundation. With a passion for design and craftsmanship, coming from 15 different countries and speaking 20 languages, the Young Ambassadors will delve into the content of each of the 14 Homo Faber exhibition spaces and share their passion and knowledge with visitors.

Here are the six Young Ambassadors from Switzerland or studying in Switzerland. Discover the others by following the link.

Georg Foster, Germany, Cantonal Art School of Lausanne, Switzerland

“Creativity to me is the ability to connect the dots. From past experiences, present research or exposure, and with the tools that are at hand, developing a body of work.”

Julia La Mendola, Switzerland, Geneva School of Art and Design, Switzerland

“Creativity is expressing oneself by making things that make your heart happy. For me it is a very strong and intuitive link between your hands and your soul, passing through your head.”

Juliette Lefèvre, France, Cantonal Art School of Lausanne, Switzerland

“I think it’s really important to contribute and participate in the transfer of knowledge and to be a messenger for craftsmen’s talents. They are the guardians of the temple of hand made.”

Alina Rech, Switzerland, Creative Academy, Italy

“Creativity is about open-minded people, curious ones, always wanting to improve and getting inspiration from everyday life.”

Alessia Sasso, Switzerland, Accademia di Belle Arti Aldo Galli, Istituto Europeo di Design, Italy

“Creativity is a way to express an inner idea of colours, sensations, memories, and communicate them through different channels, such as paint, dance, fashion, music.”

Aleksandra Żeromska, Poland, Cantonal Art School of Lausanne, Switzerland

“For me one of the most important values of participating in this experience is meeting artisans involved in the event. Watching their work and talking to them will be for sure a huge lesson and inspiration for me.”
