The 7th edition of the European Days of Crafts (JEMA) in Switzerland met its public with the mobilization of nearly 15,000 visitors in the five cantons who took part in the event this year. More than 200 places made it possible to discover a wide range of crafts practiced in Switzerland. The Days took place from April 20 to 22 in the cantons of Geneva, Vaud, Jura and – for the first time – Valais and Ticino.

"Given the enthusiasm of the public and the exceptional mobilization of craftsmen proud to share their passions, the JEMAs are asserting themselves - throughout the country - as THE unmissable event for Swiss know-how. , an essential component of the Swiss economic fabric. rejoices Sami Kanaan, president of the Swiss Association of Crafts (ASMA).

Various shapes

Visits to private workshops, demonstrations, conferences, participatory workshops, exhibitions, journeys between different places or groups of craftsmen on the same site, were all ways to discover or rediscover trades that were sometimes little known but fascinating.

Futures in transmission

Entitled "Futures in transmission", this edition wanted to create triggers and encourage vocations towards professions which knew how to reinvent themselves by perpetuating themselves, professions which carry within them a new economy of intelligence and value. The Swiss public has shown its interest in the richness of these professional activities, between traditional know-how and new technologies. For the past month, the media have echoed the public’s enthusiasm for these professions at the crossroads of culture, economy, heritage and creation. Many quality interviews and portraits have highlighted these passionate professionals, their backgrounds and their knowledge. (Press review: https://metiersdart.ch/fr_CH/actualites)
