The artisan in residence - October 2020 program

Arcades of Swiss Crafts, Site Platform 10, Lausanne

From Saturday 10 to Sunday 11 October, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.,

Léonore Graff, weaver in Lausanne (VD) , will set up shop with a sampling loom that will allow everyone to see or try their hand at weaving simple techniques (canvas, twill and dummy weaves such as houndstooth) . To understand the basic principles of weaving and how a pattern can appear on a fabric, the craftswoman will present the stages of hedging and combing.

From Tuesday 13 to Sunday 18 October, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.,

Daniel Borel, luthier guitar maker in Avenches (VD) , will present various guitars of his manufacture: cigar box, electric guitar, folk guitar (acoustic), the architecture of the instruments, the choice of woods according to the desired timbre and will demonstrate the finishing work such as varnishing.

From Tuesday 20 to Sunday 25 October, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.,

Adrien Roldan, luthier guitarist at L’Abbaye (VD) , will work on an acoustic guitar and solidbody (solid body electric guitar): shaping the curve of the neck, positioning of the binding, finishing of the body. He will also present his latest creations from his studio.

From Tuesday 27 October to Friday 6 November, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Wiebke Meurer, creative designer of jewelry and objects in Genolier (VD) , will present her singular and sculptural work. His creations question the traditional use of objects by modifying their scales, their functions and their original materials. She will demonstrate the various techniques she uses to create her precious and often pseudo-functional objects, for example electroforming (electroplating) which allows the creation of fine objects by the technology of electroplating.

Saturday, November 7, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Métiers d’art Suisse and the Office for Educational and Vocational Guidance of the Canton of Vaud have joined forces to inform you. Every first Saturday of the month, documentary information specialists are on duty to inform you about professional orientations in the field of fine crafts. Whatever your background or your age, find the information you need on the vocational training courses that interest you.
