The book "Almost Lost Arts" is an ode to traditional crafts

NZZ Bellevue, Stephanie Rebonati;

A new book presents the workshops of indigenous natural yarn dyers in Mexico and Cypriot weavers in Nicosia. “Almost Lost Arts” describes 27 artisans who use their hands to preserve traditional manufacturing processes.

With a background in art history, archeology and museology, American writer and editor Emily Freidenrich was well equipped for the journey ahead of her book. She visited artists and craftsmen in their workshops for the recently released film “Almost Lost Arts”, all of whom practice a profession which, it would soon be seen, should be protected as intangible cultural heritage. After all, it is about traditional customs, social rituals and valuable knowledge.
