Vaud - Three craftsmen have conquered their know-how by changing their lives

On the occasion of the European Days of Crafts, the doors of 40 workshops in the canton are open to the public. Meeting with three former university students who converted late in life.

In the program

Ironworker, stonemason, luthier or even piano maker: the diversity of trades abounds for this 5th edition of the European Days of Crafts (JEMA), which takes place this year in five cantons, from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 April . In Vaud, the offer promises to be rich with nearly 40 places and around a hundred craftsmen at work, half of whom are scheduled for the first time. “We still have enormous potential for renewal,” rejoices Thierry Hogan, Vaudois coordinator of the event.

The 2018 edition focuses on Eastern Vaud, Broye and Northern Vaud after Pays-d’Enhaut and Western Vaud last year. Among the new features, an awakening workshop for children aged 8 to 12 is offered at the Alimentarium (on registration like the vast majority of workshop visits). On the same site will also be installed two permanent reception and demonstration areas without registration. Two institutions are also joining the adventure: the Roman Museum of Avenches and the Vocational Education Center of Vevey.
