Artistic Craft Days
Aticrea, on the occasion of the JEMA, presents the Ticino glass masters and invites everyone to visit the Roman glass exhibition at the Castle Museum. On this occasion, the visit to the museum will be free.
"Located in the medieval castle of the Visconti family, seat of the federal landowners from 1513 to 1798, the archaeological museum houses pieces from the Locarno region, from the end of the Bronze Age to the beginning of the Middle Ages.
The collection of glass from the Roman period discovered in the canton of Ticino is significant: in fact, between the 1st and 4th centuries. In fact, between the 1st and 4th centuries AD, on the shores of Lake Verbano, there were colonies of craftsmen and traders who maintained close relations with the great centers of Roman civilization. The collection presented at the museum, in the space redesigned in 1988, includes around two hundred objects arranged in chronological order and grouped according to the context in which they were found. The value of the collection lies in the large number of objects it contains, in the excellent state of conservation of the glass as well as in the great variety of shapes.Retrieved from: www.ascona-locarno.com/it/commons/details/Museo-Castello/2773
