The goldsmith creates objects in gold, sterling silver, or silver-plated metal intended for tableware, interior decoration, or religious use. He works the metal in sheets using cold techniques such as shrinking, planishing, repoussé, and stamping, or hot techniques such as lost-wax casting.
Initial vocational training as a goldsmith is acquired through an apprenticeship leading to a Federal Certificate of Competence (CFC). The program lasts 4 years. Further training is available.
